A red-orange fox stretches across the lower two thirds of the frame in mid-leap, its nose pointing down to the right and its long body curving up to a bushy tail tipped in white. One amber eye, white cheek markings and pale-edged ears are the only fine detail on an otherwise smooth, flat-toned figure.
The background is a mottled wash of cream, beige, khaki and soft brown with a worn, scuffed canvas texture and faint tree trunks behind. White flecks of snow drift across the whole scene. The words "WINTER FROLIC" run across the top in tall, thin capitals, and a looped script "Fox" sits at the bottom left. It reads as a vintage-style illustration.
