A tall white lighthouse rises from a concrete base at the right of the frame, with a small red-roofed keeper's building at its foot and a railing running along the platform. At the top, the lantern glows soft red, with pale circular flare marks drifting around it against a dark grey sky.
Thick white mist and spray roll across the lower half, hiding the waterline and blurring a heap of pale rocks on either side of the base. A large wave surges up on the left and dissolves into fog. The palette is almost entirely grey and white, and the red roof and lamp are the only colour. It reads as a processed photograph with a moody, stormy feel.
