A lioness lies along a thick, deeply furrowed tree limb, her chin resting on the bark and one front paw hanging loose over the edge. Her amber eyes look straight at the camera. Her hind legs dangle below the branch, and her body curves away to the right in a relaxed, heavy slump.
The photograph is toned in warm sepia, so the bark, fur and foliage all sit in browns and creams. Feathery acacia-style leaves blur across the top and left, while bright sky shows through gaps behind her head. The sharp focus on her face against the soft leaves gives a layered, shaded feel.
