A single cypress tree grows from the top of a rocky headland on the left of this square black and white photograph. Its two trunks twist upward and spread into flat, wind-shaped clusters of foliage, with bare branches reaching out below. A low stone wall curves around the base of the trunks.
The sea behind is long-exposure smooth, with no visible waves, and it fades into a pale band of cloud at the horizon. Grey tones deepen toward the top corners and the lower right. The dark, textured rock and cobbled slope in the foreground contrast with the soft, empty water and sky.
