A single fan palm stands upright in the centre of a tall portrait frame. Its slim, brown trunk rises from a small patch of rough ground at the base and splits into thin stems that carry six fan-shaped fronds. Each frond is built from short, feathery strokes of sage and olive green.
The background is a soft wash of blush pink, cream and pale beige, laid on in broad, overlapping brush marks that look thick and slightly raised. There is no horizon or other object, so the palm sits alone in a quiet, muted space. The look is that of a textured oil-style painting with a gentle, warm light.
