A single gnarled tree grows from a lichen-covered boulder at the right of the frame. Its trunk twists in a slow spiral before splitting into a few bare branches and a loose crown of grey-green foliage. A smaller piece of rock sits at the bottom right corner.
The sea is glassy and almost without ripples, running to a flat, dark horizon line. Above it the sky shifts from pale blue to soft pink, with two small pink clouds low on the left and a small full moon just above the water. The photograph is quiet and muted.
