Tall spikes of purple and blue lupines rise from a thick meadow of green foliage in the foreground. The nearest flower spikes are sharp and detailed, each one packed with small pea-like blooms that darken toward the base. Palmate leaves fan out around them, and more lupines recede in rows toward the treeline.
Behind the meadow, a band of dark evergreen forest leads to soft blue-grey mountains with mist lying in the folds. Above them the sky glows orange and red along the horizon, with heavy grey and violet clouds streaking across the top. It is a photograph, and the purple flowers echo the dusky colours of the sky.
