About Chihuahua with Roses
A small long-haired Chihuahua sits square to the viewer, filling the centre of the canvas against a soft grey-blue background that fades from light at the top left to darker grey at the edges. The dog's face is ginger and cream with large dark eyes, a black nose and oversized upright ears fringed with wispy apricot and pink hair. Its chest and front legs are white. Across the lower third, a bank of open roses in hot pink, crimson and pale peach crowds forward, one bud lifting to the dog's chin.
Texture is concentrated in small ridges: clotted white and cream strokes on the chest, flecks of pale paint over the forehead, and scraped petal edges on the roses. The background stays smooth and blended by contrast. The overall character is bright and affectionate, a straightforward pet portrait pushed toward pop art by the saturated flowers.
Suits a hallway, bedroom, nursery or a dressing room where the pink roses can pick up soft furnishings.
