About Puppy with a Red Bow
A young dog, closest to a beagle or small hound, sits facing the viewer against a pale grey-white ground. The head is built from flat blocks of tan, brown, cream, sky blue and olive, with a heavy ridge of white impasto arching over the left eye and running down beside the muzzle. A scribble of red and pink paint sits above the right ear like a bow. The eyes are two glossy black dots and the nose is a soft black wedge with a lime-green patch beside it.
The chest and body fade into loose pencil-grey hatching, pink and blue rectangles, and faint stencilled text reading "grow old", with small ochre diamond motifs at the left edge and a signature at lower right. It is a playful, collage-like portrait, tender rather than cute, with the raw canvas left showing through.
Suits a child's bedroom, nursery, family hallway or a vet or grooming reception. The pale grey ground sits well on white or soft green walls and works with light oak furniture, linen bedding and a few brightly coloured cushions. Hang it alone above a low bookshelf, or pair it with other square animal portraits. Browse more pop art, animal art, square paintings.

The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
