About Top Hat Trickster
A smiling clown fills the lower two thirds of a square canvas, set against a flat pale grey background marked with rows of faint apricot diamonds at the left. He wears a tall top hat blocked in red, hot pink and olive with a black band and a red brim, and beneath it sit two floppy patterned ears, one printed with brown gingham. Tufts of blue, pink and yellow hair burst from each side in thick, ridged strokes.
Red diamonds are painted above and below each eye, a round red nose sits centre, and a wide grin shows white teeth against a red lip line. The ruffled collar below is a mass of red spots, white curls and grey shadow. A small signature reads "Tony" at lower left. The character is cheerful and graphic rather than sentimental, with paint left visibly thick and directional.
Suits a child's bedroom, playroom or rumpus room, and works equally well in a games room or a circus-themed nursery. The flat grey ground keeps it calm enough for a hallway or a bright kitchen wall.
