About Two Bikes at Rest
Two bicycles lean against each other on a plain grey ground, filling the square canvas. The front bike carries a wire basket drawn in thin scratched lines, its frame worked in ridged blue and white paint with red and orange running up the fork and along the curled handlebars. The second bike sits behind and to the right, its forks and bars loaded with red, rust and yellow strokes. Both wheels are painted as open circles with fine dark spoke lines scribbled across pale tyre rims, one violet-grey, one gold.
Backgrounds and shadows are kept soft and smudged so the built-up paint on the frames and rims stands forward. The character is everyday and slightly worn, a quiet study of two well-used bikes made lively by colour and thick, tactile paint.
Suits a hallway, entry or study where a square work sits neatly above a console or bench. Works in warm-grey and white interiors, exposed brick, or a teenager's room. Pairs with timber furniture, black metal shelving and other city or transport subjects. Good for a cyclist's home office wall. Browse more contemporary art, pop art, square paintings.
