Two large magnolia flowers lie on a fold of teal velvet. The open bloom on the right shows broad cream petals and a pale green seed cone at its centre, while the second flower sits behind it, half closed and lit along its upper edge. A green bud rests at lower left.
The background is near black with a faint rust-brown glow behind the flowers. Glossy dark green leaves, some turning brown at the edges, fan out around the blooms, and two bare brown stems reach to the right. The soft light and smooth blending give it a realistic, painterly still life look.
