Three cream magnolia blooms lie across a draped brown velvet cloth, with one large flower open at the right, showing its pale green centre and broad curved petals. A closed bud sits behind it and a second rounded bloom rests at the left.
The background fades from deep brown to near black, so the pale petals stand out. Glossy green leaves and a few rust-brown ones surround the flowers, and a bare twig runs out to the right. Warm gold light catches the folds of velvet in a traditional, realistic painted style.
