About Making Faces IX
A single black line travels across a plain white ground to suggest a face. It begins at the left cheek, rises into a jagged zigzag across the top of the head like cropped hair, then drops down the right side in a loose wavy tail. Inside the shape sit two simple marks for eyes, one with a small lash flick, a straight stroke for a brow, and a tiny curled loop below the nose that reads as a mouth. A small signature mark sits in the lower right corner.
The line is uneven and slightly dry in places, thickening at the turns and thinning where it lifts, so the drawing keeps the energy of a quick sketch. The character is playful and unfinished, a face built from the fewest possible marks.
Suits bedrooms, hallways and home offices with white or pale walls, and works in Scandi, coastal and minimal interiors. Pair it with another face print from the series for a matched set above a bed or console, or hang it beside black-framed photographs, pale timber furniture and linen bedding.
