A single small palm stands at the centre of the picture, with a short, rough, brown trunk rising from a tuft of grass. Spiky stalks branch out from the top and carry fan-shaped fronds in soft greens, some bright lime and others greyer, drooping or reaching outward in a loose, even spread.
Behind the palm sits a pale cream background marked with the faint outlines of an old map, with coastlines, a compass rose near the top and small lettering in a muted tan. A sage green border with a woven, speckled texture frames it all like a mount. The look is of a detailed botanical illustration in a soft, aged palette.
