A tall, vertical landscape in loose, layered brushwork. The upper two thirds is a mottled sky of cream and putty, scuffed with grey flecks, that drops into a band of soft blue along the horizon. The surface looks scraped and dragged, so the clouds read as texture rather than distinct shapes.
Low on the horizon, a few olive and moss green trees sit in soft focus, the tallest pair right of centre. Below them a meadow runs from pale straw yellow to deep green, with patches of rust red and maroon, and one small blue pool near the lower centre. The foreground darkens to brown and green, giving the scene a quiet, hazy feel.
