About Melting Point
A square canvas washed from pale yellow at the top left into deep orange and scarlet across the lower half. Long curved bands sweep from the lower left up and over to the right, layered in vermilion, white and thin dark lines that trail off like whiskers. Where the curves meet, a vertical ridge of black, silver grey and gold runs down the centre, thickly loaded and slightly raised. Fine white spatter fans out from that junction, with a few flicked droplets landing on the orange field to the right.
The balance is between broad, smooth colour fields and a tight knot of texture at the centre, so the eye keeps returning to the same crossing point. Warm and energetic without being busy.
Suits a warm-toned living room, an entry wall above a hall table, or a dining space with timber furniture. Works against white, cream or charcoal walls and pairs with leather, brass lamps and terracotta pots. The square format sits well above a low sideboard or centred between two doorways.
