About Moon Dance
A tall scarlet field fills the canvas, broken by wide vertical bands of gold and bronze that run from the top edge to the base. Across the centre, thick ropes of raised gold paint loop and curve into a calligraphic figure that reads like a brushed character, with a small oval sitting above it like a moon. Short black strokes shadow each raised line, giving the gold real depth. A small red seal mark sits upper left, another gold seal lower centre.
The surface is worked in heavy relief: the gold lines stand proud of the canvas and catch light, while the red is thinned and streaked, letting bronze show through. It is a bold, graphic piece with an East Asian calligraphic feel and a strong sense of movement.
Strong in a living room above a dark timber sideboard, in an entry hall, or in a restaurant or reception space needing one decisive colour note. Works with black leather, walnut, charcoal linen and cream walls. Pair with warm downlighting or a picture light so the raised gold lines pick up highlights.
