A single poppy fills the right side of this portrait image, its head turned slightly off the edge. The petals are a dusty mulberry pink with darker mottled patches, and their edges carry a thin teal outline. At the centre a dark teal disc is ringed by a fine halo of pale stamens tipped in black.
The background is a scratched, stained grey surface that looks like an aged photographic plate, with blotches, spatter and pale cracks across it. Small diagonal corner marks sit at the borders. The petals have a translucent, inverted look, as if the flower has been printed as a negative, giving the whole image a cool, muted and slightly ghostly feel.

The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
