About Old Castle
A stone castle with square turrets and arched windows sits on a mossy headland at the right, its dark walls catching the last warm light. Low mist rolls along the base of the cliff and across the shallows. The water is smoothed by a long exposure into a glassy sheet that mirrors the castle and the burning cloud above. To the left the sky opens into bands of orange, gold and pale cream, with a small skein of birds in flight near the horizon.
In the foreground a bleached, twisted driftwood limb reaches out from a gravel bank tufted with dry grass and moss, and a second branch lies half submerged in the middle distance. The mood is quiet and cinematic, a fairytale scene held in the last few minutes of light.
Suits a lounge room or bedroom with warm timber, stone or rattan, and works well in coastal and beach house interiors where the orange sky picks up terracotta cushions and brass lamps.
