A tall, slender papaya tree fills the page, its straight ribbed trunk rising from a small tuft of grass to a crown of deeply lobed, fan-shaped leaves on long stalks. A small cluster of round fruit hangs just beneath the leaves. The fine hatching and cross-hatching give the leaves a crisp, engraved look.
At lower left sits a crest with a crown and two standing lions holding a shield, above a line of script that begins "To His most serene Highness" and names "The Prince of Hesse". A single open flower lies at lower right. Small captions read "Plate 15" and "Page 181". Black ink on a warm sepia ground gives it an aged book-plate feel.
