This square collage layers vintage paper ephemera in a patchwork of panels. The top left carries the heading "PARROT CAGES" above a large engraved domed cage with a faint bare branch behind it. The top centre shows four numbered cage designs on pedestal stands with a swallow in flight above, and a pale gold repeat of the cages sits to the right.
The lower half mixes a ruled ledger page with faded blue handwriting, a rust-red panel with a yellow canary on a leafy twig and the words "CANARIES AND CAGE BIRDS", and a row of small blue bird silhouettes. A colour plate shows an orange-breasted bird with a blue head and a bright blue bird on branches. Scraps reading "BIRD SEED." and "MOCKING-BIRD FOOD," run along the bottom.
