About Party Music Boombox
A portrait poster graphic built on a black background with vertical stripes of teal, red, orange and mustard yellow running top to bottom. At the centre sits a large twin-speaker boombox drawn in cream outline, with a cassette deck, tuning dial, row of small buttons and a carry handle. Across the top, the word MUSIC is set in heavy distressed capitals, with the script word Party above it and HIP HOP beneath. Lower down, 1990'S and LIVE PERFORMANCE complete the layout.
The surface is deliberately worn: ink splatter, speckled halftone dots and scratched edges break up the flat colour, and a narrow cream border frames the whole design like an old gig poster. Its character is loud and nostalgic, a flat graphic tribute to cassette-era sound systems rather than anything soft or painterly.
Suits a teenager's bedroom, a music or games room, a home office with shelving, or a bar and rumpus area. The black ground reads well on white or grey walls and against timber furniture. Hang it beside record storage, a turntable or speakers, or group it with other retro concert and poster prints. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
