A rooster stands in profile facing left, its body built from patchwork panels of different patterns: a gold flower motif on deep red at the neck, a black and grey damask square at the belly, and a dark red scalloped section across the back and wing. The beak is black and the comb is a golden tan.
The tail is a sweeping mass of black scrolls and leaf-like flourishes on cream, with a mottled, aged-paper texture behind it. Black script reads "Le Coq" across the top and "Paris" at the lower left. A band of gold polka dots on burgundy runs along the base, under the black claws.
