A single peach and apricot tulip bud stands sharp on the right of the frame, its petals just parting at the top to show a pale cream inner edge and a touch of deeper orange. Fine vertical veins run through the petal surfaces, and a thick green stem rises from the bottom edge.
Behind it, a field of more tulips dissolves into soft focus. Pale green and butter yellow buds sit on the left, with washes of pink, lilac and apricot further back, under a hazy blue sky. The shallow depth of field and gentle daylight give this photograph a calm, pastel spring mood.
