A single sprig of pepper vine sits upright in the centre of a square frame. A dark purple-brown stem carries two glossy green leaves, a smaller one pointing up and a broader one angled down to the right. Strings of tiny red berries hang on the left, and pale cream beads trail off to the right.
The background is a mottled gold and bronze surface with faint swirling scrolls in darker brown on the left. A thin black distressed border with speckled ink blotches runs round the edge, like a worn label. The word "Pepper" is written in black cursive script at the lower left, over the foot of the berry string.
