A long timber pier deck runs from the lower left towards the horizon, its boards a deep reddish brown and slightly glossy. A row of curved black lamp posts follows the right-hand side, the nearest one glowing warm yellow. A blue steel railing lines the edge of the deck above the water.
On the left a Ferris wheel stands against the sky, its spokes lit by the sun behind it, beside a roller coaster track and a pink ticket booth. To the right, a wave breaks in white foam below a band of gold light. Heavy purple and grey clouds fill the sky. The saturated colour gives the photograph a painterly finish.
