Two open poppy-like flowers fill this square watercolour-style image. A large magenta-pink bloom sits at the upper right, its petals washed in soft, uneven pinks with a dark brown and olive centre dotted with pale stamens. A smaller lilac-purple flower sits at the lower left, with grey-violet shading and a fine black-lined centre.
Loose black cursive handwriting runs across the cream background, with fragments such as "bonjour", "Merci" and "et oise" in places. Two closed buds in grey, pink and lilac hang on thin grey stems. The paper-like background has faint texture, and white edges around the petals give the colour a crisp, layered look.
