Large hibiscus blossoms are scattered across a pale aqua background that has a mottled, scratchy texture like worn paper. Most flowers are filled with flat white and deep plum shapes, with a speckled stamen and a spray of fine purple dots at each centre. The petals are cut into jagged, torn-looking edges.
One hibiscus near the bottom centre is drawn differently, in fine black pencil-style linework with a long curved stamen, set against white petals. Sketched buds and stems trail from the edges and corners. The mix of solid plum shadows and delicate line drawing gives the square image a layered, printmaking feel.
