Two oversized red poppies overlap across the left and centre of the canvas, their petals flat, dense and slightly textured, with a black cluster of stamens at the heart of the larger bloom. A purple poppy sits at upper right, and an orange poppy sits lower right, each with a dark centre.
The background moves from charcoal at the edges to pale grey and white around the flowers. Small yellow blossoms and a second purple bloom sit in the lower left, with white dotted lines and black splatters across the red. The words "ART" and "Poppies" are lettered in the composition, in purple, red and orange.
