A square landscape in soft, textured brushwork. Red poppies are scattered across a green and olive hillside in the foreground, thickening toward the left and thinning into the grass at the bottom edge. Three tall, dark cypress trees rise on the left, their narrow shapes breaking into the sky above the horizon.
Behind the cypresses, striped vineyard rows slope down beside a pale stone retaining wall, with a patch of crop fields to the right. Rolling ochre and sage hills fade into a hazy blue distance under a pale sky with thin white cloud. A red-leaved tree on the left and red shrubs on the right echo the poppies and tie the foreground to the background.
