About The Port and Pear
A square still life set against a warm ochre and brown backdrop broken into broad, angled strokes. On the right stands a dark green port bottle with a pale, roughly lettered label reading PORT, its shoulder catching a cool highlight. Two stemmed glasses sit beside it, filled with deep garnet wine that glows red where the light passes through. To the left a yellow-green pear leans on a pale cheese wedge, and a mound of almost black grapes fills the lower left corner, dotted with small white catchlights.
The mood is warm and close, like a table lit by one lamp late in the evening. Colour is blocked in flat, confident planes rather than fine detail, so the shapes read strongly from across a room.
Suits dining rooms, a bar nook or cellar door wall, and kitchens with timber or dark cabinetry. The ochre and burgundy sit well with leather chairs, brass pendants and terracotta tiles.
