Three small songbirds sit on thin brown branches that cross the picture from side to side. The top bird is a streaky russet-brown sparrow, the middle one has a yellow breast and rust-red wings, and the lowest has an orange chest and a long red-brown tail. White five-petal blossoms with pale grey centres cluster along each branch.
The background is a warm cream paper covered in faded handwriting, circular postmarks and stamp outlines. Fragments such as "LETTER", "A 308" and a partial "Tatour Eiffel" mark appear near the edges. Soft green leaves and a few pale blue-tinged petals add cool notes. The birds and blossoms look watercolour-like, and a worn, dark gold-green border frames the whole sheet.
