A long timber jetty runs straight up the centre of a tall frame, its planks narrowing toward a vanishing point near the horizon. Round wooden posts line both edges, larger and darker at the bottom and shrinking with distance. The boards are grey-brown, with worn grain and faint reddish patches.
The water on either side is flat and glassy, a soft grey-green that blends into a heavy, overcast sky. The horizon is a faint line, and the far end of the jetty almost dissolves into mist. It is a quiet photograph with no people, boats or birds, and a very muted palette.
