A crowd of pedestrians walks toward the viewer along a wet boulevard, drawn as dark, loosely brushed silhouettes. A woman in a red coat on the left and a figure in a blue coat on the right are the strongest colour notes. Reflections streak the pavement beneath their feet in pale blues, pinks and creams.
On the left a warm ochre stone wall carries an ornate lantern, while a green lamppost stands on the right beside trees in soft yellow and olive leaf. At the far end a hazy mauve building fades into a pale sky, with a red café awning below it. The thick, textured strokes give it an impressionist feel.
