About Raspberry Contemplation
A raspberry pink sky fills the upper half of this landscape composition, deepening to magenta at the top edge and softening to mauve where a low hill sits behind the treeline. A row of rounded trees crosses the centre, their canopies lit in yellow and gold with darker olive and burgundy foliage massed behind them on the right. Below, a wide stripe of bright yellow reads as a sunlit field, cut off by broad bands of deep red and near-black crimson that run to the bottom edge. Edges are blurred and blended rather than drawn.
The mood is quiet and warm, closer to a remembered dusk than a real place, with colour doing all the work instead of detail.
The saturated pink and red carry well in a living room above a low sofa, or in a dining room on a white or pale grey wall. It suits a bedroom or ladies' room where a warm accent is wanted, and works with brass or gold frames, plum and charcoal cushions, timber furniture and dark green plants.
