A single large red capsicum hangs from a curling green-brown stem, its glossy skin streaked with deep crimson, pinkish highlights and darker folds. Brushy, layered strokes give the fruit weight, and a couple of dried olive leaves cling to the stem at left. Above it, the word "Pepe" is written in burgundy script with a looping flourish.
The background is a cream, parchment-like surface with faint handwriting, soft stains and a worn, linen-like texture. A band of olive green forms a ledge along the bottom. Down the right edge, ornate scrolls in olive gold and burgundy climb in a vertical border, balancing the heavy red shape on the left with a decorative, old-world feel.
