This is a close, overhead photograph of beach sand shaped into wavy ridges by the retreating tide. The ripples run mostly top to bottom across the whole frame, bending, splitting and rejoining. There is no horizon, sky or water, so the sand fills the entire picture and reads almost like an abstract pattern.
Low sunlight catches the crests and turns them warm orange and gold, while the troughs stay a cool, deep blue-grey in shadow. That strong contrast gives the surface real depth and texture. A few tiny shells and pits are scattered between the ridges. The colour range is narrow and calm, split between warm and cool tones.
