About Romantic Reflection II
A single female figure stands slightly off centre in a portrait format, seen from behind and turned a little to her right. Dark charcoal curls sit high on her head, with a bare shoulder and slender neck below. Her long gown is built from broken vertical streaks of grey, blue-grey, cream and small flecks of rust and ochre, so the fabric appears to run downward and dissolve. The upper background is near-white with faint aqua and sand washes drifting through it.
The lower third breaks into loose swirling ribbons of silver, warm grey and pale blue that curl around the hem like mist or water. Marks are dragged, wiped and scraped rather than drawn, leaving thin trails and softened edges throughout. The effect is quiet and romantic, with the figure only half described and the rest left to atmosphere.
Suits a main bedroom above a bed head, a dressing area, or a hallway with pale walls. The soft greys and cream sit easily with linen bedding, whitewashed timber and brushed silver or nickel fittings.
