Six red tulips with ruffled, heavily textured petals sit in the foreground of a square composition. Strokes of crimson, orange and yellow build the blooms, with darker maroon in the folds. The flowers are cut at different heights, so the cluster looks loose and natural rather than arranged.
Behind them, pale peach and apricot tulips fade into a cream background streaked with soft diagonal brushwork, giving a misty, out-of-focus effect. Olive and sage green leaves and stems rise from the bottom edge. The surface looks like thick acrylic or oil brushwork, with visible bristle marks and a small red signature at the lower right.
