A single ranunculus bloom sits in the upper half of the frame, its layered, ruffled petals in peach and apricot with pink-red edges. The petals look thin and slightly papery, with creases and soft folds that catch the light in the centre of the flower head.
A slender green stem curves in an S-shape down to the lower right. Behind it the background reads as aged, scuffed paper in sepia, deep blue and mustard gold, with bands of cloud-like light. Lines of faded cursive handwriting run across the surface, partly legible, giving the photograph a layered, textured finish.
