Seven shells and one sand dollar are scattered down a cream background in black ink line work. At the top sit a spiked whelk and a small round snail shell, with a ribbed cockle fanned out on the left and a large ridged conch with a spiral centre on the right.
Below them, a tall pointed turret shell leans across the middle, and a round sand dollar shows its five petal pattern ringed with fine dots. A dark, almost solid mussel with a barnacle on its hinge sits at the bottom right. Dense hatching and stippling give each shell its texture, with no colour beyond black and cream.
