Ten spotted seashells radiate from the centre of a square canvas like petals, with a small five-pointed shell shape at the middle. The shells are cream, rust red and dark blue, covered in dots, blotches and wavy markings. Four smaller shells sit in the gaps between the larger ones near the edges.
Behind them is a deep navy antique sea chart with faint gold-beige lines. Visible lettering includes "Occidental", "Mer", "Atlantique", "France", "Barbarie", "Afrique", "Royaume d'Alger" and "Provence". Two compass roses sit at left and right, and the paper looks worn and mottled, giving an aged European map feel.
