A single dark figure stands with his back to us in the middle of a polished timber floor, looking up at an enormous round clock face set into an arched opening. The glass glows white with light from outside, so the man reads as a flat silhouette against it.
Black Roman numerals ring the clock face, with a dotted minute track around the outer edge. Two long diagonal hands cross the centre, and a heavy horizontal beam cuts across the upper third. The floorboards fan out in streaks of light and shadow toward the viewer, and the curved arch walls frame everything in deep black. Pure black and white, with no colour at all.
