A low stone arch bridge crosses a still pond in the middle of the frame, its dark, rough masonry dusted with snow along the top and in the cracks between the stones. Beneath the arch, the far bank shows pale snow, a small evergreen and a couple of tiny figures standing in the distance.
Bare trees heavy with fresh snow fill the background and arch across the right side, each branch outlined in white against a soft grey sky. Snow is still falling. The black and white photograph holds a wide range of greys, with the dark water mirroring the bridge and a rounded drift of snow lying in the lower foreground.
