Two peony blooms fill the whole frame in a tight close-up photograph. The flower on the right is open enough to show a small cluster of golden-yellow stamens at its heart, while the bloom on the left is a loose mass of ruffled, overlapping petals.
The palette stays in soft blush pink and near-white, with the petal edges fading almost to cream where the light is strongest. The focus is gentle and the shadows are shallow, so the petals read as thin, silky folds. The yellow centre is the only strong colour in an otherwise pastel image.
