A long timber pier runs in from the right edge of the frame, its row of angled piles standing dark against a pale horizon. A few small palm trees and the shapes of structures sit along the deck. The pier is cut off by the right side, so it leads the eye across the image.
A long exposure has turned the sea into smooth, milky white with no visible waves. Above it the sky is streaked with soft cloud in lilac, rose and peach, glowing orange and yellow low on the left where the sun has set. A small dark island sits on the far left horizon. The photograph is calm and low in contrast.
