About Solar Pony II
A single pony stands in the centre of a square composition, its body angled away from the viewer while the head turns back to the left. The animal is drawn in chalky greys and soft lilac tones with pale outlines that sit lightly over the background rather than being fully filled in. The upper half of the canvas glows amber and gold, broken by vertical streaks that suggest tree trunks or falling light, while the lower half deepens into burnt red and dark maroon around the legs and hooves.
The surface shows scraped, layered colour with the weave of the canvas visible through thin patches, and flecks of gold catching across the ochre band at the top. Edges of the pony dissolve into the red ground, especially around the chest and rear leg, so the figure seems to emerge from the heat behind it. The character is quiet and slightly ghostly, more an impression of a horse in warm light than a literal portrait.
Suits warm interiors with timber, leather and terracotta: a living room above a tan sofa, a dining wall beside rust linen, or a home office with brass lamps. The square format works well over a low sideboard or in a bedroom above the bedhead. Pairs with other earthy animal prints or plain cream walls.
