About Springtime Landscape
A blossom tree fills the upper two thirds of the canvas, its pale pink and cream flowers dabbed on in short strokes over a network of thin brown branches. A second, smaller tree stands at the left edge with sparser green-white foliage. Behind them a narrow band of soft blue sky shows through the canopy. The lower half is a sloping meadow of long grass painted in many greens, from yellow-lime in the sunlit centre to deeper emerald at the right, with clumps of yellow and white daffodils scattered through the foreground and along the fence line.
The paint is applied in small, separated touches so the blossom reads as light rather than solid shape. It is a quiet, cheerful painting of early spring, more about warm light in grass than about any particular place.
Suits a living room with white or pale grey walls, a bedroom above a timber bed head, or a dining room where the greens pick up plants and linen. Pairs well with oak and rattan furniture, cream upholstery and brass lamps. The 120 x 90cm size works over a sideboard; smaller sizes suit a hallway or home office.
