A weathered timber jetty runs from the bottom edge of the frame to the middle distance, its planks narrowing toward a T-shaped end with a small platform on each side. The grain and gaps between boards are sharp, and the wood has a rough, worn texture in the foreground.
Long exposure has turned the water into smooth, milky grey with no visible ripples, and the horizon almost disappears into the haze. Heavy streaked clouds drift across the upper half. A few wooden posts stand in the water. The black and white photograph is calm, quiet and square.
